Questions

Bhutan visa FAQs

Specific to this destination.

Do Indians need a visa for Bhutan?

No visa, but you do need an Entry Permit (issued in Phuentsholing or via your tour operator) and you must pay the Sustainable Development Fee of ₹1,200 per adult per day.

Is the SDF mandatory?

Yes — the SDF was introduced in 2022 and applies to every adult Indian traveller. Children 6–11 pay ₹600/day; under-6s are exempt.

Can I visit independently?

Yes — unlike third-country travellers, Indians don't need a licensed tour operator. You can self-drive from Phuentsholing or fly into Paro and travel independently.
